I initially was skeptical about spending the money on the scythe blade, as I have an American style blade that merely needs to be sharpened, but this is 10x sharper, and takes out grass from knee-high to over 6 feet tall. It slices through grass quickly and without effort. It's perfect for people with allergies who don't want to kick up a bunch of pollen. I'm using it with an old busted american style snathe that I've taped up and have been maintaining pasture land and areas around my chicken coop.EDIT: after using this scythe blade for several years I can honestly say it's a joy, especially with an Austrian style snathe. I taught my daughters to scythe with this and my oldest will sometimes just head outside and scythe just to clear her head. It's quite lovely.
