There are numerous lames (lami?) on Amazon, and I looked at many before deciding upon this one. I'm quite happy with it, to the extent that I can't imagine how it could be improved.The blade attachment method seems to be unique to this lame. It's quite simple, with a pinch you can safely remove the blade. That was what initially attracted me to this lame over others, and I'm happy to say it works well and is quite secure. The curve it puts on the blade is very functional, and has helped create some excellent ears on my loaves.The provided blade cover also works well so long as you're attentive -- no stray fingers in the blade path, please.I didn't realize a blade was provided so I had ordered some Feather double edged razors along with it; I'm using those instead of the included blade, so I can't vouch for that. It seemed a little thicker than the Feather blades so i just went with them.I used to just use a razor blade with no handle. No matter how trivial it seems, this is actually a significant improvement.
